"WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD"
A heavenly village in the middle of Amazon "Boca Da Valeria, Brazil"
March 3 2023
“Lovely, innocent souls of Boca Da Valeria kids left my mind serene forever!”
Mouth of Valeria (Boca Da Valeria) is the meeting point of Amazon and Rio Da Valeria rivers which were well visible from the deck of our ship. On the recent years,The native village became quite essential stop for cruise ships. Most of the residential buildings and buildings are like a open museum. I was very excited to share some time with the locals when I was looking to the shore and taking a few photos of rising sun while we were approaching to the point that we anchored. It was a beautiful morning with the early rays of sun leaking through clouds gloving on the river.
Remembering what we briefly learned about this village on the previous night, I impatiently zoomed my camera in to the shore. The village seems built on the coast of dense Amazonian rain forest. I spotted also many fishing boats on the shore. First building I saw was the tower of village church and the blue structure sitting on the pillars (possibly the protection of flood when the water rises). Later we saw all their residential modest houses were constructed on the pillars.

A Unique tradition of local wedding in south western of Anatolia
(Bodrumda Bir Dugun gelenegi- TurkiyE
Part 1
We are one of the many summer residents in Bodrum/ Turkiye for almost 38 years. Our small flat is in the western region of Turkey, a small beach town called Karaincir/ Akyarlar. Karaincir cove is a soul refreshing heaven for me. Yet, because of our working schedule, we never stayed more than 2-3 weeks at a time at this natural beauty for years, until our retirement arrived. Staying longer than few weeks gives us an opportunity to involve with locals more, and get to know the people, their daily life and their traditions. Read more |
Floating Market in Pattaya/THAILAND
Seeing beautiful Orchids in their home environment in Bangkok was exciting. They are everywhere from airport to hotel, gardens, restaurants homes. Our destination is Pattaya; a small town two hours ride away Bangkok international airport. Flat landscape along the road is covered with rich vegetation because of humid subtropical climate. You can easily realize diverse group of flora from the see level all the way up to the mountain. Pattaya greets you with its narrow streets and very lively and flamboyant people who share the walkways with bikers! Hundreds of souvenir stores sell authentic goods and you may bargain some, but not much. Our first experience for dinner was the Restaurant named “Rimpalabin” Read more.. |
Spirit of a vendor/ Shanghai/CHINA
It is a rainy day in Shanghai. A scooter is parked in the back alley of the market. A petite woman takes off her raincoat coat that is soaked inside out. She quickly wraps it up, packs it into a plastic bag and stuffs it into the side pocket of the bike. Then she reaches over to the pocket on the other side, grabs her lunch bag and runs into the building.

Traveling Home/ Bodrum/TURKIYE
My adventure in China is another chance for me to explore the world after leaving home “Turkey” 22 years ago. I keep introducing my home country at every social gathering, at work, and among the people who do not seem to know about this beautiful country.
When we moved and settled down in Shanghai a year ago, the first thing that captured my attention was the advertisements about Turkey and Turkish Airlines on TV. I felt very proud and excited. And I decided to write about my own experiences in my hometown and reach out to more people. We started our annual Turkey vacation on August 22nd 2011 from Shanghai to Istanbul flying with Turkish Airlines. The flight was an extraordinary experience. Our 10-hour flight was pretty comfortable and entertaining under the caring assistance of the flight attendants as we enjoyed their delicious selections of dinner and a mid flight snack. Every year during the plane descent over Istanbul's Bosporus Bridge, my eyes well up with tears and an unimaginable feeling of peace fills my heart. “Istanbul” as a city has become a subject for many movies, novels and a huge page of history on it's own. Poems are written about Istanbul, people fall in love in Istanbul, and people fall in love with Istanbul! Today I will talk about a small but very lively town “ Bodrum”which is often called “Halicarnassus” in the history pages. Read more.. |
